National Recognition for Local Funeral Director

We are proud to announce that one of our Funeral Directors, Evie Thomas-Broomfield has recently received a national award for her dedicated care and support for families struggling following the loss of a baby or young child.

Evie was nominated by the family of Baby Everley who Evie looked after, at the Mariposa Trust Awards which was in London at the Landmark Hotel. The award is recognition for both Evie and more generally the funeral profession as these awards are largely for the NHS. Evie won the Community Award. View the awards page here.

The Mariposa Trust is a charity that supports families with the trauma of loss of a child, whether that be during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy.

The parents of Baby Everley had the following to say, “Evie made us feel like Everley was safe and looked after. She made her funeral perfect and just how we wanted and she looked after us all, making sure my family had chance to say goodbye in a beautiful way in really awful circumstances. When a baby dies before they are born, your time and memories are so few these little things make a huge difference. But the biggest thing she did, she sat with us comfortably in our darkest time and was so present. I knew she was doing everything she could for us all and she made this time so much easier.”

Well done Evie, keep up the great work that you do for our local community.

Supporting the Community

Richard Steel & Partners continue their local sponsorship of Meon Valley Bowls Club in Bishop’s Waltham. Pictured is Bill Bailey who said “We think bowls is a great sport and like every club we are run by members, for the members. Meon Valley is always looking for new bowls players, whether experienced or completely new to the sport. We really appreciate the sponsorship from Richard Steel & Partners, our local family funeral directors”.

Community Room Opens At Bishop’s Waltham

As part of the recent premises improvements at our Bishop’s Waltham office, the team have added a Community Meeting Room which will be available for local charities and meeting groups to hold small private gatherings.

The upstairs room can accommodate up to 8 attendees and is fitted with appropriate audio-visual equipment to allow both presentations and webcast events in a professional environment. There is no direct charge for use of this room, however, a modest donation to our current nominated charity (Mountbatten Hampshire) would be greatly appreciated. The room may be used Monday–Friday (10.00–16.00) subject to availability.

Community Room enquiries should be directed to Daryl Willett (01489 892640) ku.oc.slarenufsleets@lyrad
